Introducing… Ali

Introducing… Ali

Welcome to the ‘Introducing…’ feature on our website, where we will be exploring what makes the Bee Industrious team tick. This month, Ali is in the spotlight.

Name: Ali

Role: Regional Director – responsible for building the business in the Middle East and providing strategic direction and insights on projects.

Experience:

I grew up with a strong work ethic. I started delivering newspapers when I was ten! I learned that the newspapers get delivered. It never crossed my mind that they didn’t.

My professional experience started with organising exhibitions. I understood that buyers and sellers needed information and saw in exhibitions and conferences a great way to introduce them to each other.

When I finished my MBA from George Washington University, I focused on marketing, and this led me to Public Relations. This is where the dots connected, and I became passionate about the human side of business. About human interaction, and the depth beyond the surface of business transactions.

I had the privilege of working with some of the biggest agencies operating in the Middle East, and was exposed to some of the world’s leading brands, including McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Nivea, Cisco, Ford, Swiss Airlines, and Pfizer. I’ve also contributed to some of the Middle East’s most successful emerging brands, including Etisalat, Emirates Airlines, Jumeirah International, Qatar Gas, Masdar, and Almarai.

Can you describe Bee Industrious in three words?

The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle. The book that opened up presence for me and put everything into perspective.

What would you do for a career if you weren’t doing this?

I would be a teacher. I have had some experience teaching at university level, and found the experience very rewarding. But through the influence of parenthood, I would probably elect to teach very young children.

What do you find most challenging about your job?

The Arabic language. With its different dialects, it can be tricky trying to make the same language work for different countries that speak different dialects if you are working outside the structure of classical Arabic.

Best part of my job is…

Best: Capturing insights by stepping out of the comfort zone that my clients have and looking at things from many different points of view.

Worst part of my job is…

Worst: Economy travel.
